The first Garden State Grudge Match was held in heavy NE swell conditions with the promise of the wind going west in the afternoon. That didn't happen, but there was still a lot of serious surf with a Head-to-head winner take all, $2000 competition. The die-hard crowd put up with crappy weather, but were rewarded with a Randazzo-Hammer final. Randazzo won it in with a backside barrel closing the door.
