DATE:
October 6, 2007
Saturday

LOCATION:
Karge Street, Bay Head

Orignally this event was being billed as a "contest" but, the gears have shifted to a more family oriented day and is now the Kenny Tooker Memorial Classic.  It just seems more fitting ....  Kenny was a Classic.  There will still be a competiton and trophies will be awarded to the winners in various divisions.  Right now it's:
Men's Longboard
Women's Longboard
Junior Longboard
Bodyboard

Community Involvement:
Kris Tooker, is taking on this event and and can be reached at her email.   If you can help, please contact her.

This is a Scholarship fund raiser.  Last year there were two $500 checks given to PPBHS seniors and more is planned this year with this event.  The criteria is for an average student academically, but someone who is an all around nice kid, just like Kenny was ... and of course surfers will get a little special attentiion.
Those of us that knew Kenny, know he would really be digging the way this event is coming together.  The outpouring of our community is great, but not surprising.  Kenny lived each day with the Aloha spirit and that is something that will live on in all of us that were lucky enough to have crossed his path.  This annual event will now remind us of our loss, but more importantly, what we gained by knowing him.
