Rob Stumley: The sculptures started for me back in 2002 while working on my BA at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. After seeing an article on Ithaka (Darin Pappas), www.ithaka-1.com, in Water Mag, I took my lifelong affair with surfboard building to another level. All of my work, thus far, are pieces out of old surf boards and in the six foot tall or larger range carved in very high relief.On the back of every piece, I glass in a laminate with as much info as possible with the original stats of the board being brought back to life as one of my board sculptures.
